With reference to Colonial Office letter

No.53552/35 of the 24th July regarding the proposed

eviction of Chinese from the "walled city" of

Kowloon, I am directed by Secretary Sir Samuel

Hoare to state that he concurs in the attitude

which Mr. Secretary MacDonald proposes to adopt

towards the question of the recalcitrant owners.

2. In this connexion I am directed to

enclose for Mr. MacDonald's information copies

of a telegram received from His Majesty's

Ambassador at Peking on this subject and of the

reply which has been sent to Sir Alexander Cadogan.
